Ho cominciato a lavorare nel mondo dell'informatica sul finire degli anni Novanta, in un momento in cui configurare una rete locale era ancora considerato un mestiere di frontiera. Da allora non ho smesso, e il settore non ha smesso di cambiarmi intorno.
Sono cresciuto professionalmente attraverso ruoli abbastanza diversi tra loro: la vendita tecnica, la gestione di team operativi, la progettazione di infrastrutture, la consulenza strategica. Questa varietà non è stata un difetto di percorso — è diventata la mia prospettiva. Chi ha visto un problema da più angolazioni tende a risolverlo meglio.
I started working in IT in the late 1990s, at a time when setting up a local area network was still considered a frontier skill. I haven't stopped since, and the industry hasn't stopped changing around me.
I've grown professionally through quite different roles: technical sales, operational team management, infrastructure design, strategic consulting. That variety wasn't a flaw in my path — it became my perspective. Someone who has seen a problem from multiple angles tends to solve it better.
Cosa faccio
Dal 2006 lavoro in modo indipendente come consulente e architetto di sistemi informativi, prevalentemente con aziende private e pubblica amministrazione.
Il cuore del mio lavoro sta nell'incrocio tra tecnologia, sicurezza e conformità normativa: aiuto le organizzazioni a capire come sono fatti i loro sistemi, dove sono vulnerabili, cosa rischiano e come mettere in ordine le cose — senza creare complessità inutile.
Una parte rilevante dell'attività riguarda la progettazione e l'architettura dei sistemi informativi: raccogliere i requisiti tecnici e di business, definire la struttura dell'infrastruttura (on-premise, cloud o ibrida), scegliere le tecnologie più adatte al contesto e sovrintendere all'implementazione fino alla messa in produzione. Non si tratta solo di installare e configurare — si tratta di costruire sistemi che reggano nel tempo, che possano crescere e che siano gestibili da chi li eredita.
In parallelo, lavoro su sicurezza, privacy e conformità: audit interni, valutazione delle vulnerabilità, implementazione di misure tecniche e organizzative per la protezione dei dati, adeguamento al GDPR e agli standard ISO. Su questi temi ho maturato una visione pratica che va oltre la check-list normativa: la sicurezza funziona quando è integrata nell'architettura fin dall'inizio, non aggiunta in coda come strato decorativo.
Completa il quadro la consulenza strategica e la governance IT: definire policy e processi, valutare soluzioni di terzi, garantire la continuità operativa, ottimizzare i costi infrastrutturali. Spesso significa anche fare da interlocutore tecnico verso fornitori e stakeholder — tradurre, in sostanza, tra chi conosce la tecnologia e chi deve prendere le decisioni.
Non mi occupo di una sola nicchia. Preferisco avere una visione d'insieme e lavorare su problemi reali piuttosto che su specifiche di prodotto.
Since 2006 I work independently as a consultant and information systems architect, primarily with private companies and public administration bodies.
The core of my work lies at the intersection of technology, security and regulatory compliance: I help organisations understand how their systems are built, where they are vulnerable, what they're exposed to, and how to fix things — without creating unnecessary complexity.
A significant part of the work concerns information systems design and architecture: gathering technical and business requirements, defining the infrastructure structure (on-premise, cloud or hybrid), selecting the most suitable technologies, and overseeing implementation through to production. This isn't just about installing and configuring — it's about building systems that hold up over time, that can grow, and that remain manageable for whoever inherits them.
In parallel, I work on security, privacy and compliance: internal audits, vulnerability assessment, technical and organisational data protection measures, GDPR and ISO standards. I've developed a practical perspective that goes beyond normative checklists: security works when it's built into the architecture from the start, not bolted on afterwards as a decorative layer.
The picture is completed by strategic consulting and IT governance: defining policies and processes, evaluating third-party solutions, ensuring business continuity, optimising infrastructure costs. It also often means acting as a technical interface between vendors and stakeholders — translating, in short, between those who know the technology and those who need to make decisions.
I don't focus on a single niche. I prefer a broad view and working on real problems rather than product specifications.
Il percorso
Ho iniziato con ruoli commerciali nel settore IT, poi sono passato alla gestione operativa: a inizio anni 2000 coordinavo un team di dodici persone che erogava servizi di system management e helpdesk per un ente centrale dello Stato. Era un contesto esigente, con responsabilità diretta sul cliente e sulla qualità del servizio.
Subito dopo ho lavorato come consulente interno per un operatore UMTS di nuova costituzione, occupandomi dell'integrazione tra sistemi legacy e piattaforme di gestione e billing. Un progetto tecnicamente impegnativo in un'azienda che nasceva in corsa, con tutte le pressioni e le approssimazioni che questo comporta.
Dal 2003 ho scelto la strada della consulenza autonoma, prima generalista, poi sempre più focalizzata su sicurezza, privacy e architettura dei sistemi. Nel 2019 ho conseguito il Master in Privacy Management con Federprivacy, formalizzando una competenza che stavo costruendo da anni sul campo.
Negli anni ho continuato a formarmi: certificazioni Microsoft (MCP, Azure, Security & Compliance), Fortinet, VMware, e più di recente un programma intensivo di sviluppo full stack — perché capire come si costruisce il software aiuta anche a capire dove può rompersi o essere attaccato.
Nel 2006 ho fondato Remote Italia, una realtà che raccoglie e struttura queste competenze per offrire servizi IT gestiti in modo organizzato e continuativo.
I started in commercial roles in the IT sector, then moved into operational management: in the early 2000s I was coordinating a team of twelve people delivering system management and helpdesk services for a central government agency. It was a demanding context, with direct responsibility for the client and for service quality.
Shortly after, I worked as an internal consultant for a newly established UMTS operator, handling integration between legacy systems and management and billing platforms. A technically demanding project in a company being built on the run, with all the pressures and shortcuts that entails.
From 2003 I chose the path of independent consulting — initially generalist, then increasingly focused on security, privacy and systems architecture. In 2019 I completed the Master in Privacy Management with Federprivacy, formalising a competence I had been building in the field for years.
Over the years I've kept training: Microsoft certifications (MCP, Azure, Security & Compliance), Fortinet, VMware, and more recently an intensive full stack development programme — because understanding how software is built also helps understand where it can break or be attacked.
In 2006 I founded Remote Italia, a company that gathers and structures these competences to deliver managed IT services in an organised and continuous way.
Un'esperienza un po' diversa
Tra il 2020 e il 2021 ho tenuto un corso di Informatica all'Accademia di Belle Arti "Lorenzo da Viterbo" di Viterbo. Studenti di discipline creative, nessun background tecnico. È stata un'esperienza interessante: spiegare concetti complessi a persone che non si aspettano di doverli capire è un esercizio che affina la chiarezza — più utile di quanto sembri.
Sono preciso, curioso e tendo ad avere un punto di vista personale sui problemi che mi vengono riportati. Non mi accontento di soluzioni standard se non sono le più adatte al contesto specifico. Allo stesso tempo, so che la perfezione teorica che non si può implementare non vale molto.
Lavoro bene sia in autonomia che in team, e ho imparato negli anni a distinguere le situazioni che richiedono profondità tecnica da quelle che richiedono soprattutto buon senso.
Between 2020 and 2021 I taught a Computer Science course at the Academy of Fine Arts "Lorenzo da Viterbo" in Viterbo. Students from creative disciplines, no technical background. It was an interesting experience: explaining complex concepts to people who didn't expect to need them is an exercise that sharpens clarity — more useful than it sounds.
I'm precise, curious, and tend to develop my own take on the problems I'm brought. I don't settle for standard solutions when they're not the best fit for the specific context. At the same time, I know that theoretical perfection that can't be implemented isn't worth much.
I work well both independently and in teams, and I've learned over the years to tell apart situations that require technical depth from those that mainly require common sense.
